Create and Post a Death Notice

How do I Create a Death Notice?

Let us help you generate a Death Notice. Simply fill out the following form as best you can. When you are finished, click on the "Preview the Death Notice" button. We will then automatically assemble the information you gave us to generate a draft of a standard Death Notice that you can edit as you wish.

Once you are done editing, click the "Submit" button to post the Death Notice in Funeralville.com. The Death Notice you created will remain posted for two weeks in Funeralville.com, where family and friends may view it. After two week it will be moved to the Funeralville.com Death Notice Archive.

When posting a Death Notice, you will be asked to select a password for it, which will enable you to replace the Death Notice or remove it at any time by returning to the Death Notices page of Funeralville.com and following the directions there.

About the Service

Remember, Death Notices are not intended to be permanent tributes and will remain posted in Funeralville.com for only two weeks, after which they will be moved to an archive.

After you have posted the Death Notice, you may want to send family and friends an email containing a link to the Death Notice, so that they may be notified of the details of the funeral arrangements. You may also want to print a copy to send to a newspaper or fax it to a newspaper directly from your computer.

All these services are free.

A few words on our Death Notice form

Along the way, you may wonder why we asked certain questions or how you should answer questions. Only answer the questions you feel are relevant. We will take whatever information you provide and generate a Death Notice containing only that information. If you get stuck, you may want to look at the Sample Death Notice we created. This Sample Death Notice should clarify what the finished product might look like.

Also, while we have done our best, because of the variety of styles people use, it proved impossible for us to create a form that will perfectly satisfy everyone. Instead, we tried to create a form that will allow you, in as simple a way as possible, to generate a Death Notice that fits a commonly used style. We also tried to offer some ideas of descriptive words and phrases that you may find helpful. But most of all, we wanted to give you the flexibility to create a Death Notice that you were satisfied with and that fit the style you preferred.
